I had a great time creating this card for the freshlymadesketches weekly challenge.
Challenges are such a fun way to spark creativity and push me out of my comfort zone. When I first saw this challenge I counted the strips and knew I was going to incorporate MERRY in the strips. (I’ve been making Christmas cards nonstop for the last several weeks so not surprising this was my first thought).
I had planned to use either patterned paper or to stamp something on the strips but it was just too busy for me. I started looking through my cardstock and found these 5 colors from Concord and 9th that went beautifully together: Peacock, Briar Rose, Blueberry, Oceanside and Eggplant. The colors are so rich I think they are great just the way they are.
Next, I used the Julie Hickey Sweet Pea lower case alphabet dies to cut out the letters. (Purchased from Simon Says Stamp but not currently available. They do have the upper case version, however!)
I used the Alex Syberia Festive Poinsettia stamp and die set for the Christmas sentiment.
I played around with several options for the finishing touch but settled on this beautiful Stitched Snowflake die from Pretty Pink Posh. (This has quickly become a favorite of mine this season) I added a little shine to the snowflake with the Metallic WaterColor 14 Pan Set from Altenew.
