I fell in love with Kristina Werner’s Cheerful Background stamp at Concord & 9th, and I knew I had to incorporate it into a card design.
To try to add a unique twist, I decided to experiment with layering and texture. Since I didn’t have a metal die to cut out the pattern, I opted for a handmade approach.
To recreate this look, start by cutting five different colors of cardstock to fit your card size (in this case, an A7 card measuring 7″x5″). For the two panels on the left, I stamped the design with matching inks and cardstock from Concord & 9th. For the two on the right, I used stencils to create a negative image effect.
Next, cut four strips of cardstock, about 1/4″-1/2″ wide, depending on your card size. Place these strips over your first stamped panel in your desired pattern and tape them together. Lightly trace the strip pattern onto the cardstock with a pencil, then cut out one shape and set it aside. Repeat this process until you’ve cut out all four pieces.
Don’t discard the strip pattern – you can use it as a guide to attach the cut-out pieces to your card with perfect spacing!
For the center square I used a blank piece of cardstock to be the base for my sentiment.
I hope this post inspires you. Happy crafting!
