WRITE YOUR OWN SENTIMENTS

Hi creative friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you find a little inspiration, a must-have supply, or a great tip for your next project!

Links to all of the supplies I used to make this project are below.

Do you ever have a specific message in mind but don’t have that stamp or die in your stash? I have a solution for you: write your own!

Ok, I didn’t have that particular issue with this thank you card, but I decided to hand letter my sentiment anyway. It’s a great way to personalize a card as well!

BACKGROUND: I stamped my Pretty Posies background stamp onto Ballet Slipper pink cardstock using my Plumberry ink pad. Next, I added some color to the flowers using these 3 Altenew alcohol markers:

  • R823 Deep Iris (Shades of Purple set)
  • R702 Lavender Fields (Shades of Purple set)
  • R504 Pinkalicious (Cherry Blossom set)

I sent it through my Big Shot with a circle die and set it aside.

HAND LETTERING CHARM: To create visual contrast, I opted to use white on a darker background: Plumberry cardstock.

  1. I lightly dusted off my cardstock surface using anti-static powder to make sure the embossing powder would only stick to my lettering.
  2. Next, I wrote the sentiment using my Letter It pens. They have specially formulated ink and stay wet on your paper longer to use embossing powder with them.
  3. I sprinkled my embossing powder onto my lettering, shook it off and used my heat gun to bring it to life. Watching my lettering get brighter under the heat is one of my favorite processes to watch! Feels a little magical!
  4. I used my nesting circle dies to cut out the sentiment and a smaller piece of foam for the back to add some depth.
  5. I added a little bling to the center of the flowers with some Opalescence Confetti Embellisments.

Hand lettering this sentiment added a personal touch. The beauty of hand lettering lies in its imperfections – don’t be afraid to try it! Your unique style is what makes it art.

Just over here trying to spread a little sunshine one card at a time. I'm fueled by Dr. Pepper, sarcasm and especially puns. I hope my cards bring others even a portion of the joy that I feel creating them. #cre8yoursunshine☀️
