MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

Hello and welcome! I’ve been on a mission lately to organize my craft room. Currently I am in the middle of organizing my stamps and dies with magnetic panels and plastic sleeves. This is not a small task but an important one in my humble opinion. (I will probably make a separate blog about this in the future).

When I first started buying stamps and dies I had no plan and was just buying anything (and everything) that caught my eye. I have now realized that space is at a premium and I am starting to think a bit more about my overall collection vs something that I may use a few times and never pick up again.

Today’s blog is about a stamp and die set that is so versatile it’s definitely a keeper! It’s the Simon Says Stamps and Dies Happy Duo set.

Whether you are looking for a fun and creative way to wish someone a happy birthday, anniversary, graduation or even retirement… Look no further! This set can handle it all!

Image of a stamp and die set titled 'Happy Duo' from Simon Says Stamp, showcasing various greeting phrases such as 'For You', 'Birthday', 'Thoughts', 'Retirement', 'Graduation', 'Anniversary', and 'Sending So'. A stylized cutout of the word 'HAPPY' is featured prominently.

TIP: The set is made to fit perfectly on an A2 card base but I decided to make A7 (5″x7″) cards so that I would have a little more room to include a sentiment and decorations.

A colorful birthday card featuring the word 'HAPPY' in bold, dotted letters with vibrant floral embellishments and the word 'BIRTHDAY!' in black at the bottom.

Card 1

  1. I cut a piece of polka dot paper the same size as my die and glued it onto my card base leaving extra space at the bottom.
  2. Next, I trimmed a separate piece of white cardstock to be about 1/4″ smaller than my base. I ran it through my Big Shot with the die and separated all of the pieces.
  3. I colored the background pieces using 3 shades of Distress Oxide Inks
  4. I wanted to be able to see my paper through the letters so I didn’t use the letters but saved them for a future project. Before I put them away, I used them for positioning to help me glue down the centers of the A and Ps.
  5. I glued the outside piece of the diecut cardstock onto the card base then arranged all of the pieces of the die and glued those down as well.
  6. I chose to place the sentiment below the diecut image and added some flowers to the bottom corner. The flowers were colored using Copic markers to match the Distress Oxide colors.
A birthday card featuring the words 'HAPPY' and 'BIRTHDAY!' cut out in large letters, with blue and sandy backgrounds and decorated with flip-flops.

Card 2

  1. I used a stencil and Distress Oxides to create the background ocean image for the letters
  2. I embossed my cardstock before cutting out the die to add some texture
  3. The outline of the die was cut out of colored cardstock.

Just over here trying to spread a little sunshine one card at a time. I'm fueled by Dr. Pepper, sarcasm and especially puns. I hope my cards bring others even a portion of the joy that I feel creating them. #cre8yoursunshine☀️
