The Art of the Hack: Making Your Supplies Work for You

Hi friends! Today I am sharing a move announcement card that was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I sat down to create the card and quickly realized that I didn’t have a stamp that said move, moving or moved! Keep reading to find out how I hacked a stamp set to work perfectly for this project…

The supplies I used are linked at the bottom of this post
Graphic design layout for Freshly Made Sketches 731 featuring six rectangular sections in varying colors: three vertical rectangles in grey, teal, and pink, and a central white box labeled 'SENTIMENT'.

I started with a piece of Concord & 9th Grapefruit cardstock cut to 9.5″ x 5.5″. The finished card will fit perfectly in an A2 envelope.

An assortment of color swatches including shades like Cherry, Poppy, and Sorbet next to a large peach-colored cardstock measuring 9.5 x 5.5 inches.

Next, I scored each end at the 2.75″ mark.

A person scoring an orange piece of paper at 2.75 inches from each end using a scoring tool, with well-manicured hands and a ring on one finger.

To create the look of a panel door, I die cut the larger rectangles using Sorbet cardstock and the smaller ones using the Grapefruit. I glued them together and then glued them to the end panels of the card.

Now for the fun part… As I was searching through my stash, I came across the Concord & 9th Flower Medley stamp set!

A stamp set featuring various black floral designs and text elements, including the phrases 'You Are Loved' and 'Hi There'.

I used craft tape to cover the “you are” and the “L” of loved and stamped it on the inside of my card. I hand-wrote “we have” and drew the “M” to create my sentiment!

I heat embossed the “hi there” sentiment and glued the right half of it down on the front of the card.

I did not glue the left side to create a little flap to tuck the front flap underneath of it. Check out my video below to see the card in action…

I am so happy with how it turned out and relieved that I came up with a solution to bring my vision to life (thanks to Concord & 9th ofcourse!)

Just over here trying to spread a little sunshine one card at a time. I'm fueled by Dr. Pepper, sarcasm and especially puns. I hope my cards bring others even a portion of the joy that I feel creating them. #cre8yoursunshine☀️
