In a world where digital communication has become the norm, I feel that handmade cards have become even more special. There’s something undeniably charming about receiving a handmade card. The personal touch, the thoughtfulness, and the effort that goes into creating something unique make it a truly special gesture.
The card I am featuring today shows that even a simple design can convey a deep appreciation for a special friendship.
The Design
The card’s design is centered around a vibrant striped pattern, created by layering strips of Concord and 9th colored cardstock in a harmonious sequence of white, honeysuckle, pistachio, starfruit and oceanside.
The Crafting Process
I was inspired by my Altenew Beach Towel Stripes stencil so I cut my strips in varying widths and arranged them in a similar pattern.
I glued the strips onto a piece of honeysuckle cardstock and then glued that to my pistachio card base surrounded by a thin border.
Tips for Customization
- Color Scheme: Experiment with different color combinations to find the perfect palette for your card. Consider the recipient’s favorite colors or the occasion you’re celebrating.
Concord and 9th has color palettes on their website and I use them often! Click here
- Strip Width: Vary the width of your strips to add texture and interest to your design. I did no measuring and just quickly cut random widths.
- Message: Personalize your card with a message that speaks to the recipient. If you are using a die with a shadow die, like I did, try cutting out the shadow die 2 times for a little extra dimension.
Whether you’re celebrating a milestone or simply acknowledging the importance of a friendship, this card is sure to bring a smile to the recipient’s face. So, gather your materials (or scraps), unleash your creativity, and start crafting a card that will be treasured by your friend.
