As I sat down to create a card for the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I knew I wanted to keep it simple but also wanted to do something interesting with it. I struggled a bit at first with several ideas (and colors) rolling around in my head but nothing that seemed to be the one. The end result actually started as an accident. I love happy accidents!
I stenciled the Cheerful Flowers with Honeysuckle Ink on Honeysuckle cardstock for a tone on tone look.
I added a little Plumberry ink to the centers of the flowers to add some dimension.
I cut my stenciled design to make the background strip, with the intention of just adding foam tape to the back, but didn’t like how the flowers looked on the strip. I did not think enough of the flowers were showing.
I considered doing dimensional flowers instead but really liked my stenciled colors and did not want to start over. This is when I decided I would just cut the flowers from the background and create my own strip with them. I absolutely love how it turned out!
A happy accident refers to an unexpected event or outcome that turns out to be beneficial, fortunate, or pleasant. It’s a situation where something goes wrong or doesn’t go as planned, but ultimately leads to a positive result or discovery.
